    Hey HoughMade,

I came across your bike looking at an old post about your bar ends and turn signals. Love what you did with the signals. Nice 79!

The reason I'm contacting you is that I noticed you have the same muffler/exhaust as my 78. I'm wondering what you have going on at the slip joint/clamp. I cannot get mine to clamp down for the life of me. Thanks in advance, hope to hear back from.

She was designed by men who oiled their own slide rules and spent their evenings puking up Sake on the bullet trains on their way home.

Do they make full fairings for the XS400G? Or does anyone know if a hond rebel fairing would match up correctly?

Just got my 4th XS400 - this is a 1984, and isn't even broken in. I can't wait to break the first 200 miles.

Rebuilding my 82XS400. Went to bolt on my new gas tank because I don't like the style of the original one. Realized my new one isn't compatible with th frame. Does anyone know where I can find one that is? (I'm new to bike world)
    1. BBS360
Might want to start a thread for your bike in The Garage. These semi-private messages aren't the best way to get help and keep others from taking part in the conversion, learning, or sharing knowledge.
As for your question, there are no fuel tanks that are compatible. Every tank will require some modification to fit, either moving the mount on the tank or modifying the mounting point on the frame, both by welding.

any suggestions on what oil and how many quarts to use? 82xs400, please inquire.
    1. BBS360
There are lots of past threads on the subject. Type "oil" in the search box on the top right of the page.
As for how much, it's stamped right on the motor. The manuals go into more detail for different quantities per oil change, rebuild, etc.
Manuals can be downloaded from the two threads at the top of The Garage.

Can't find instructions on how to start a thread. Help please.

When you're browsing a forum section like The Garage there's a red button on the right side, above the list of threads, that says Post New Thread.
