XS400 New Member
So I have built and wired many many bikes in the past. I am mostly a CB750 kick only kinda guy. My gf just picked up a 1982 xs400 from a friend. The bike was almost finished with being cafed. The battery has been relocated and the triangle cleared out.
The issue - At 2500 RPM the bike is charging at 15.4 Volts. When bike is on, the voltage at the reg is about .3 volts lower than the voltage at the battery. no clue why!
What I've done so far - New Rec/Reg, used but good field coil and points, re-wired the harness removing all unnecessary items.
I am using a small battery, Autocraft 5L-BS
The wiring is solid, no shorts in the harness.
I am out of ideas guys, HELP
