i have a 4g5 se model but thought this had electronic ignition, but have points and no cdi. Wiring has been mucked around with so wondered if they have changed it to points becuse of the price of new cdi or pick up ,Is there any info on the engine number giving the year of manufacture, posible they have had a new engine at some point.cheers fergal.

yeah definatly 4g5 oh well maybe i got it wrong ,maybe buy electronic set is pirana still in manufactore used to use them on my rd400 many moons ago.

so... mine is a 1L9, 76' 360. but when i went to the dmv here, i had to list it on the title as a 1977 because they couldn't find the 76 in their list. so i now have a 1977 xs360....lol so weird, but at least i can get the tags now.

Good to have info. but My vin # which is 2G5-002313 is not being found by the manufacture for there safety petcock recall id #32138. mine is still leaking after two rebuilds. got the kits $$$ from differant vendors but still the leak is there . read about the recall to replace the petcock but have had no luck with that. any help would be great. weather is getting to good to not ride my ole bike i spent the winter restoring.

anyone know about engine numbers as i have an xs 250 which is an 85 and the engine number doesnt match the engine number is as followed 406005688

pretty easy drewpy it gets changed , problem is the mounts arent correct , it looks like a 70s xs motor in an 85 frame but i need to know

in the uk a 1985 xs is very unusual unless a late register.

I am assuming its a dohc model then. I did see an xs250 dohc for parts on ebay few years ago, but not since.

a picture paints a thousand words!
