Hey GF did you use one of the emgo muffler pipe adapters to get the mufflers to fit the headers? If so then what did you use to plug the "s" cut in the adapter?

I got 3.0 front and 4.1 on back so yeah the same as you. Backs a bit skinny but im still happy with it. I don't mind the front being skinny, imo it suits it.

I did a bit more of the wiring today. My soldering is improving but I am still pretty crappy at it.

I am pretty happy with how the mini led idiot lights look.

Are those dummy lights drilled into the stock headlight housing? How's the fitment with everything else in there?

They are real functioning leds. I soldered resistors to each led and there is still plenty of space in the headlight bucket for the lights and all the cabling.

I have a set that looks Exactly like those. Bought them off eBay from the uk. I was wondering where I could put them. This is a great idea. Hopefully I can make them all fit

It is alive!

I set the petcock to pri and watched the filter fill up. Left it for a few minutes so the bowls could fill and then second kick it started!

I can't believe it - it has been over 2 years since the last time the bike made a noise. I was wondering if the 400cc conversion would actually work but it purred like a kitten.

Thanks guys. I am really happy with how it ran as i guessed the pilot and main jet sizes and set the needle at full rich and 2.5 turns out on mixture screw. Idle screw is just a bit more than no contact. I will check the plugs to see if too rich or not. Using 95ron fuel. I adjusted the tapets but it think i will have to redo it as they make a bit of noise.

I put in 2.3l of oil as per haynes but still looks a little low so i will put in another 100-150ml.

It sounds heaps better with the 400cc top end and stubby mufflers than the 250 and old mufflers. Compared to the sr400s I've heard with stubbies, I was expecting more bark but the sound is quite bassy and the video doesn't really capture the bass.

I will put the chain on today if i get time and hopefully have a little run on the street.

I can't wait to get the bike registered but i am moving house next week so still might be a couple of weeks before that happens.

Cheers guys.

:bike:

Unbelievable! I moved my motorcycle from my courtyard to the secure underground parking in my building for 1 night and some asshat siphoned my fuel tank.!

On the positive side of things I rode my XS for the first time since the rebuild.
Damn those stubby mufflers are loud. I will have to fix that before registration.

Carbs are running way too rich. I didn't get a chance to make any adjustments but I will probably have to go down a few sizes in pilot jet.

I moved out of that apartment building and had to leave the bike parked on the street. Locked to a street sign and the cover over it. Hope it is still there in the morning.

Update:
A buddy of mine came over later that night & helped me push it over to my mother's house. He had gone scuba diving straight after work & wore his wet dive boots to push the bike. No braaap just squelch, squelch, squelch past 2 pubs and the police station.
The bike has sat neglected in my mother's garage since then.
I moved into a new house & been renovating so that is where my focus has been but have actually planned to get on the tools on Wednesday.

I now realise that owning an old house is a great way to have no spare cash. I am having a running battle with slugs & cockroaches :gun:

I am going nuts not having the bike registered - even contemplating offering beer & bbq to get some guys over to help finish it.
