My 1977 xs360 Build, may take a while, but its a start..

I would think twice about them unless this is a show bike that won't see much highway time:wink2: I know a lot of these type led lights are not D.O.T lights. If they are a cause of an accident you may be the one to pay, and not just with money:(

You can test your light by parking the bike so that he sun is shining directly on the light. Them put on your darkest sunglasses or lightest welding goggles. Have someone else activate the signals or brake. Can you see a noticeable difference? A difference you are willing to bet your life on?

I'd wager that 98% of the LED lights available are not bright enough, or don't have enough of a difference between the running lights and brake lights, to be safe.

Thanks for info on the lights guys. This light is a R1 replacement LED light and actually has a DOT stamp on the lense (for what that is worth).

But from the scenario's you guys are describing, it is the riders responsibility to also know what is going on around them. Knowing who is in front, behind (how far behind), the amount of time you need to slow down to make a turn or stop. To know where your emergency exit spots are when you do see an incident coming. Basically I ride with a very heighten awareness. But yes I am far from perfect and same with the drivers in the cars around me.

The bike will see little freeway time, I have a 1000 bike for that. This is going to be a fun around town bike.

Thanks again guys, but also don't want to turn this into a debate on safety riding/lights.

I do know that in PA the inspection law states that other than the tail light, no light can have multiple functions. (ie you have to have separate brake lights and turn signals and your turn signals can not come on with the brakes) I just want to give you a heads up so if the law is the same in Idaho you don't get a fine. Nice build, though! Love the wheels.

Lucky duck. We have annual inspections with some pretty stupid laws. In fact just recently, within the past few years, they decided to legalize 'ornamental' lighting with the stipulation that it must help in helping the rider more visible. PA can really blow sometimes.

Boy you guys (meaning law/code enforcement) would also hate my GS1000 taillights.... :)

(edited to not meaning to point at any certain person)

No ones hatin' man. It's just funny how laws can be so different from state to state. That's a pretty sweet lookin GS, though.

That is very true. Glad I live where I do for the motorcycles I like to play with. Thanks on the GS, finished that one over the last winter. It is a blast to ride.

Just got the bike all legal and ready to ride on the road. Hope I can get it somewhere and take some decent photos away from the shop.

Yay for road time!
