It's finally here! XS400.com is now running on the Xenforo platform. There are many new features and some changes that will take a little getting used to. The biggest change is the responsive design which will make the site easier to use on a phone or tablet. The site also has much better security and should do a better job of filtering spam.

Post any bugs or problems here and I'll do my best to resolve them. Enjoy!

One question though. Is there anyway to get the user location to show under the avatar in threads like on the old site? I see that you can click on the avatar for a popup that shows it, but it is convenient sometimes to just be able to look at where people are from(at least the country) when you are trying to help people out with recommendations and such.

It asked for my email address or name to log in. Name worked but email did not.
If the change doesn't preserve and transfer everyone's individual settings, it is not worth it and I think going back to the old format would be the best course of action.

Wolfe_11B, I'll look into that.

Lou Ranger, Yes most things were imported. I can log in with my email address and password. Al the important stuff should be there, but even if personal details hadn't been imported, there's no going back. I have soooo many hours into this conversion and the old software is going on 7 years old and is vulnerable to getting hacked. Nobody likes change, but this had to happen. Make sure you're trying to log in with the email in your profile. Let me know if it's still not working.

I don't know since I changed them all :) The one I remember was giving me issues this morning was one I had to change www.xs400.com/forum/
Once I changed 'forum' to 'forums' it worked fine.

But I see that's one you have fixed now

Been checking out the new forum & I'm digging the new format. So far only issues seem to be minor in nature and most likely an issue with learning the new system. Seems like a Good Call Travis!!!!! People take your time to learn the system. Although there will likely be a few growing pains & a learning curve It seems to me that it will be better & more user friendly. Thanks Travis for keeping this site up & up to date with software & security.!!!

I notice the search function don't pick up on key words well or make it easy to find specific info when put in. It kind of just does a general search showing all kinds of stuff sort of related. If I do a google search it finds exactly what I need to find. When I am looking for old posts with info I need to share it is hard digging through all the stuff. Also only seems to search back to 2013 or 10 pages worth. Just so people know.

Thanks for your patience and support guys.

I had that redirect setup before the site launched, but there are always cache issues when changing IPs or servers that can take a while to sort themselves out. The good news is the site is running on a faster and more secure server than the old site. The old software wouldn't even run on this server.

Looks very nice. The only problem I've encounterd so far is with the tapatalk app, can't connect to the servers and won't show any thread content.

I'm looking into implementing the tapatalk app again soon

I'm working on tuning and improving the search. There are no date restrictions. Your results were only going so far back because the results were limited to 200. I increase the results from 200 to 500, so now you have 25 pages of results. If you need to sort through more than 500 results, you should be more specific with your search. When you're in a forum or thread, the quick search changes to show different options like "Display results as threads" or "Search this thread only". All of these can be set in the advanced search as well.

I may bring back the google search bar. For now in your browser address bar (or search bar) if you're using google as your default browser search engine, add site:xs400.com before the words you want to search for and you'll basically get the same results as the old google search bar.

I did just purchase Enhanced Search for Xenforo that will make the search even better. It will be faster and make a search for "tests" automatically match results for "test", "testing", and "tested".

I also decreased the minimum character count from 4 to 3 so you can search for words like oil.

I have also noticed that I am unable to look up all the attachments that I have done in the past like I was able to do on the old site. Is there a way to do it that I am missing. It would be nice to do this to show people how to do things or what things should look like.

I'll look into it. There is nothing built in, but there are some add-on options. What types of attachments do you want to re-use? Instructional images? Perhaps they could go in an album? The problem with re-using attachments is that they are tied to the first post in which they are used and if the post is deleted for some reason the attachments will be deleted too. They will disappear (or be broken images) in the other threads where they are reused. But, that doesn't happen much around here because not much gets deleted. If I can find an add-on that allows you view and re-use attachments and checks to see if they are used in multiple locations before removing them, that would be ideal.

Not really a bug but i noticed you no longer have the garage section divided by topics (carbs, suspension, how to's, etc) will that me comming back?
I always liked that feature especially if I wanted specific info i would go by topic and read the latest post.

Drewpy, I thought so too!! I think will be better once I get the setting right. We've had periods of spam attacks using the old software, but I was faster about removing it. I didn't have my notification settings correct for reported content, but I think I have that fixed. I also added another spam database check when users register. I might have to add back the registration spam prevention questions. The platform does have a lot for tools for trying to prevent spam, but when the spam comes from real people at not robots, it's hard to stop. Hopefully at least now it will get deleted faster so less people see it.

I think I will implement something like that again. It might look a different and use child forums, while still allowing all threads to display in the parent forum. Not sure yet.
