Okay so I have an 82 seca 400 and I am wondering what tanks will fit on this with out modifying them to much. My tank is basically done with. Any help would be much appreciated!

Not really sure as the 3" wide backbone on the frame sucks................I have a 83 maxim and am looking. Its actually whats keeping me from going forward as I haven't found anything that will work without major modification. I would think any tank with a deep tunnel would be a good choice though.

I have modified a 80s 400 tank but didn't like the looks. Have a XS 750 tank now but not sure its going to fly either.

If you do find anything post up some pics.

Yeah mine leaks bad from the cap area and there are pin hole leaks that are causing problems. The person I bought it from brazed the sides where some holes were. But it’s ugly now. And it’s won’t stop leaking. I tried remaking seals like a dozen times nothing works. I ended up getting a toilet seal and putting it on the cap it’s like a rubber thing and it has been working for that at least but it’s ugly. And the gas just eats the crap out of my paint so I need to figure out a solution.

May be best just to get another factory tank maybe?

Ebay usually has them or maybe put feelers out on here?

That Is very close but my cap isn’t that type it’s just a screw on. But that tank might actually work it’s similar enough. The only difference is the cap type. But idk if it’s the same length though.

Screw on cap? Post some pics of what you have? that just seems odd to me but I am not 100% familiar with the DOHC bikes.

This is the tank, as you can see the gas has eaten the paint.

That cap is not stock. Looks like it's off some old farm equipment. My guess is someone cut the old one out and added that one. It doesn't even have a vent for it.

Never seen a sohc or a dohc xs400 with this style. Looks like it's a seca xs400 only thing. Hard tank to find. Don't see many of them. Hopefully other dohc xs400 tanks will fit, but not many good ones of them around either. The DOHC xs400 only where made for two years.
