I'm buying, one concern.

I'm buying a 1980 xs400 special, needs tank and carbs cleaned, and oil change. I can do that. One concern is that the dipstick is missing off the oil fill cap. Anyone come across this before? Thoughts? Thanks.

The 80-82 sohc bikes came without one. You check the oil level by the site glass on the side of the case. Do this on the center stand and the bike cold. The 76-77 xs360 and the 77-79 xs400 had dipsticks that will work. I have them on all my bikes.

That's a relief. I was picturing fishings it out of the cranks case! Ha! I had a feeling that it had the window. Thanks for setting me straight!
