Check out this nice Yamaha XS400 chop from Motoshop Tonouchi out of Japan! These pictures come from: http://blog.livedoor.jp/tono_blog/archives/cat_10032503.html

Thanks to Drewpy for letting us know about the bike below and the link. I thought I'd post the pictures here to make viewing them a little easier.

This is what they ended up with:

Beautiful bike and love the paint. My next upgrade is a big front wheel, if I can find something that fits.

Its a fork/tube swap, they are upside-down tubes.

Yes as drewpy pointed out, they are just shrouds that cover the upper part of the forks and are not upside-down forks. They do look nice though!

Drewpy, you sure do have a way with finding pictures! I've never seen those before.

Cheers Guys!

its a blog so you need to filter back and see what comes up. there are some cool sr400 stuff there too!

I have been measuring and calculating to try to copy this look on my '80 xs400. I am seeing something about the frame on the Tono that seems different from mine. It doesn't look like he modified it because it is black in all the pics. Maybe the frame is different in different years?

Tono frame on the top side tubes curve right down to the rear engine support tubes next t the main upper tube. The ones on my bike continue straight back to the seat support and the ones coming up from engine support connect 1-1/2" back from the end of the main upper tube.

Different ways the frame is made from factory or Tono is modified?

I have figured out that with the stretch of the swingarm and the curving of the seat tubes the shock support is still at the same height and angle from the swingarm. Cool.
