FUBAR's Build

MAN DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO RIDE!!

ive been tearing up the alleys while im waiting for the mail; headlight, more exhaust wrap, tail light thing.

i havent got the chain squared up 100% yet, but bugs are always expected on any kind of build. i havent messed around with the jets and the thing pulls hard all the way through (up to 3rd gear) most everythings been loctited down and lock washer'd and havent found anything loose yet.

im on the home stretch here folks and i cant wait. still need to get insurance and a bike license but that should be cake.

had a few guys wave me down and say wtf is that badass machine. the bike makes me proud so far!

pictures and videos to follow this month

-oh and i may just add those skateboard wheels...

Oh yeah, get cycle insurance for sure, that's what they REALLY ding you for when pulled over. Get a permit if you don't have it formalized until the appointment for the ride test. You'll be aces! Congrats!

fantastic news FUBS (not about the skateboard wheels!) its a great feeling when it all comes together.

thanks for the comments!

status update : still working out kinks, got it driving pretty good. the shift level rod coming out of the case is sort of stripped and the foot lever was junky looking so i took 2 and made one. to fix the slipping problem im going to add a set screw.

it also started leaking oil out of that same shift rod hole around the seal on the case, so ill have to replace that.

my new old style tail lamp showed up and i mounted it on the sissy bar ( the plate attaches to it also)
tomorrow i need to figure out the rear brake pedal. the way i had it before was almost level with the foot peg and pressed down too far.
still waiting on the headlight and pipe wrap.

also picked up a honda cl360 in rough shape for 25 bucks missing the front wheel.
ill post pictures later in the weekend

an rd400e shift rod will fit. Its a yam parts bin item.

no need to totally strip the engine as it feeds from the clutch side through the casing

so the bikes been running good, taken it to work and few drives for the past week.

it makes this weird chirping sound though and its sort of annoying, i dont know if air leaks make noise but thats what it sounds like. like a high pitched pulsing squeek as it idles and revs. it gets faster as it revs faster. the thing runs great the oil is full and still looks new. everything works perfect ive had it up to about 100khm and it pulls hard. its just annoying, wondering if anyone else has this problem or has heard of it.

thanks fubs

The only chirping i have had is from the chain and solved with some chain lube. Not the problem if only idling and the wheel is not turning.

here we go, these pictures were actually taken when it broke down on me. i think it had to do with the 94 octane and ethenol in the fuel, it definatly wouldnt start after a short distance after fueling up. damn husky gas station

the pictures are still phone quality so ill try and get some better ones.

as a side note i picked up an 81' honda p50 moped for freeee, need some parts though. only 4k miles

i havent got it to run for more than 30 seconds yet, haha my neighbor has one and its a pretty sweet unit, not alot can go wrong with those things

thanks for the comments

hows yours coming along volc?

today im putting new rubber in the carbs see if that helps the hanging idle when it heats up problem
