building a xs 400 to hardtail

R there any ideas what kind of exhaust(s) u think , what seems to be nice for the bike.

Im thinking stainles steal two pipes straight down in the middle , then under the engine abreast . And then each side one up.

To say I'm a fan of how these pipes look is an understatement, how good they actually are I couldn't say.

Enjoying your build so far by the way

Hi people thanks for the fine comments. But cody i am not sure what u mean with yur qwestion : How much did you rake the front end ? My english is that good.

how much was the front end altered from stock to push the front wheel and forks out farther away from the frame.

cody - i dont think its raked at all. the stock stamped steel on the neck area is still intact. he just made it a single backbone and added a gusset to compensate for the lack of support.

Yes hes right. i just made a single backbone and bended 4 pipes for the back of the hardtail and welded all together. I never did it before or take any measurment of a other bike.:yikes:
I think i had a lot of luck, that s looking like that:laugh:

No more news of the bike only a picture how it looks now at the moment.
I m t busy with other things i hope to do some work soon

This week i had some time for the bike again. And i wanted to make jockey of suicide shifter ( don't know right word ). And made a feet clutch. So i get a much cleaner handle bar. Also i want to make my own inline gastrotle , but thats a little difficult to do.

loving the style :)
thought you might have used a lever on the jockey shifter as having a suicide clutch is not much fun if your trying to put your left foot down at dead stop!

there's a few neutrals in the 400

then there's the neutral lamp coming on in 2nd gear now and then!

So thats normal? that there are more neutrals in the 400?
I always thought that was a problem.
And I can count to ,i do that most of the times when im riding my Honda CBR 600 rr.

the bike's are 30years old, with 30 year old tech.

not perfect by any means, I was being a bit factious though :D

So today i worked on the wire harnes of the bike .Iwanted to make it so small posible ,to make it to the shapes of the bike, because it was to big. But it was a year ago when a take it of the bike. so now i have a little problem. There come 5 wires of the altenator , 3 white a green and black. But On the wire diagram only shows a brown wire . So somebody knows is this twe same as the black.
