bump

1982 XS 400 Maxim, with extra parts *$ make offer * have title, bike runs but needs front tire, chain and sprockets, maybe clutch,,chatter in 4th gear. rear tire has low miles. bike has 35,630 miles, see photos ***extra parts are original seat great condition, handle bars, rear foot pegs...

Fourth gear chatters...how hard to replace...?? split case or replace from clutch side ?? . replace all gears?? thanks

Tensioner is located under the carbs Hard to reach, was able to get the bigger center bolt and two springs out, no luck yet with the Allen head bolts, cleaned springs and put back together,, still makes noise, but the noise might be the clutch or gears???, It seems to be having issues...

Allen head bolts seem hard to reach, , what is best tool to use, pivoting socket???

82 xs400 maxim Recently heard a clunk sound almost like a chain skipping, bike starts ok , only notice it around 4k rpm does clunk sound even if revving sitting on stand, any info will help, any diagrams have not taken anything apart,,,ty.

:bike: Looking to buy a '82 cafe project. Needs seat pan fabrication (seat pan and rear sub frame has been cut off), needs a battery, gauges etc. any ideas how to construct the seat and fender.

Looking to restore my '82. doe's anyone know the original factory tire brand Yamaha used when the xs400 was new? I have a cheng shin front tire and a kenda rear. any info would be nice. just wanted to check here before I check at the dealer. some ole timer might know.:bike:
