you got me over to here. id rather be on a 400 specific forum for most of my questions anyways. we need to get more people from chopcult and other forums with xs400s. the more people the more information we can share. maybe one day there can be a xs400 specific site for parts
what about like the key ignition, did you relocate it to clean up the bars? and with the hardtail frame did you run the wires inside or just try to hide them as good as you could?
did a quick google search and saw these 2 sites. looks good, but i'm assuming its a bit pricey compared to what i can do on my own. and im not sure if its everything i'd need. i kind of dont want to reuse anything stock unless i have to or its recommended...

I have a 79 xs400 and am planning on doing a bobber project with it. My one main concern is the wiring, even though I'm an electrician by trade, I'm not too confident with motorcycle wiring (idk why). Do you guys reuse some of the stock wiring or is there a kit people buy...
hey man, you referred me over from the chopcult forum. i too have a 79, and pretty much have the same plans as you do for the end result with the bike. gunna be following your build and hopefully making my own thread when i get farther along with progress
might be interested. im down in CT. about a 5hr drive. got an xs400 now, could use a better motor/ excess parts. what does it need to start? carb cleaning?
