Sold / Found / Inactive - XS400se 1980, parted out or whole lot (Netherlands)

I've oficially given up on my project, Burnadette, as it's been at an impasse for too long and I'm making room for more feasable projects (within my current skillset that is). Basically one and a half XS, two front ends, two engines, one modified frame, and a bunch of the rest. Oh and ofcourse...

    Just about given up

I believe the points have R and L markings on the baseplate. Just trace the wires from there and hook them up to the right coil. This just sprang to mind, there should be a condensor connected to the wire that connects points and coils. If that's left out or in bad condition it affects spark...

    Rectifier/alternator xs400

Was gonna say the same thing, but then I got lazy :P

    Rectifier/alternator xs400

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's all it does, charge the battery and power the circuit. So yes, you could take it off. As a bonus you'd have (somewhat) increased power output since the engine won't have the extra resistance of the alternator. I'm not 100% sure what that chain does, but If you could...

    71 Honda SL100

Looks like a very fun bike to mess around with, but seems like it could be risking a lot of work. I found THIS, maybe it helps you with the pricing.... They don't seem cheap, and I read they are quite collectible with their dirtbike history

    Xs1100 actually

I've looked at some wiring diagrams for xs1100, and some show 4 wires coming from the main switch.... No doubt it would help to know the exact type of your bike I've been looking especially at this diagram: Link Power to the main fuse comes directly from the battery, then goes to the main switch...

    Just about given up

My first start only happened after I blocked the air intake with my hand. I had podfilters, but they fell off and for some reason I thought that would work. Maybe if your airfilters are custom they are not providing enough resistance? It only ran on one cylinder so I cleaned my carbs over and...

    Burnt down XS, café rebuild

It's been far too long since my last update, but I have not sat by idly all that time, although I has been A while since I pulled the bike out of the shed. Main updates are new footpegs, which required me to cut off the stock frame loops to the exhaust mount. A rear set for the transmission has...

    XS400 Cafe Racer

I like how you did the rear brake extension. I cut out my stock break to make room new footpeg brackets, but that might have been a mistake. Love the red frame, but the engine could indeed use some detailing :)

BIKE NOT STARTING... Help! (Throttle and choke kill electric start)

Hey Cornhusker, I have the same bike I think ('80 Special but in much worse condition), which had VERY similar symptoms, and made an even worse noise. I more or less got rid of my problem, but as it was the result of a miriad of issues, I can't tell you the easy fix... but here's most of what I...

    Burnt down XS, café rebuild

Another update, Folks! I strapped in a better battery, which works, so now the bike is mobile again. However, I can't get the damn thing to idle... Dad thinks the left cylinder isn't running propperly, I think it's right  The left exhaust doesn't get as hot as the right, but when I...

    Burnt down XS, café rebuild

Hey guys, Thanks for thinking with me, I really appreciate it! But now I feel like such an idiot  i found the culprit within about half an from posting that. Checked timing & points, then measured the battery power.... Only 7 damn volts :banghead: Hooked it up to a car battery and there...
