Yeah, thank you.
I’m starting to think I went down a weird road troubleshooting. I just heard about the diode in the harness that sometimes goes bad and causes headlight issues and plan on exploring that once I get a chance in the next couple days.
So I’ve worked through a number of little electrical issues on my 82 and am down to a headlight problem.
I seem to have traced it back to a little black plastic component under the seat.
I suspected it was a relay of sorts but when I search around on here looking at related posts I see a little...
Feeling pretty good about tying up my first project on my new to me xs.
One day while going over the bike I noticed out of the blue it had no power and after a little inspection concluded the fuses/fuse box were all oxidized and making poor contact.
So I took on cleaning them up but one tab...
Good call, I missed that measurement somehow. It doesn’t fit.

I found this reasonably priced one but I’m not clear if it’s for a straight up XS or a Maxim or if they’re the same in that regard.
I tried searching but didn’t see that...

I also am hoping not to chop/weld the frame to make it happen.
I see most seats available require an...
I did a pile of reading on painting a tank and to be honest the info I found online was very conflicted. The one product that seemed to be raved about was the spraymax 2 part clear coat due to its gas resistance.
I went to a CMAX (NAPA) paint shop and told the about the clear coat I'd chosen but...
I decided to cut away as much of the logo tabs as I could in order to clean up in behind a little better. It's probably for the best. It was a little rusty behind there.
