Wow that is pretty scary. Considering the age of these motorcycles I might just drive in the prime position without the petcock vac line also. Something to consider.
Spray carb cleaner around the boots when it is idling high. If that brings the isle down then you have leaking boots. When you say you rebuilt that carbs I assume that means you replaced the butterfly shaft seals. Is that right? If not then you should speak carb cleaner around the shaft area...
I would say you need to look at the specs of your combination unit to see what should go where and then connect the appropriate wires. I myself have stock so I don't know anything about combo units so I am just kinda guessing here.
Thanks for the input. What I was thinking about doing was basically returning it back to its bones. So I guess you don't think it would really look right to clean and paint everything that needs painting. I am thinking all the way down to the frame.
Hey xschris. I am looking to refurb this bike really well. Do you have suggestions if I can paint the speedo and tach covers and make then looks close to original? I was also thinking maybe strip then and powder coat them also as an option. Your thoughts?
Thanks xschris. I superglued my tube back together but maybe ultimately I will replace it. I have some cleanup of glue on the inside of the tube to do so that it slides smoothly over the bar and rotates freely while on the bar. If I do decide to replace it I will reach out. Thanks again!
