1979 Yamaha XS400, $450. 13,615 on the odometer. I picked this up in January and don't have the time to do anything with it. I just need to get this out of my pole barn.

Previous owner was using it as a daily rider but I have not tried to start it. I have a brand spanking new battery ready to drop into it. I'm certain that the carbs could use a good cleaning and the seat needs to be mounted a little more securely, but other than that, it should be ready to go. Just some cleaning and possible light tuning.

Located in North Bradley, MI (NW of Midland, between Sanford and Coleman for you local guys).

jderoseiv - sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Baseball on Saturday for my son and Mother's Day yesterday consumed my entire weekend.

I'm attaching a picture that I took when I brought the bike home a couple years ago. It is in very good cosmetic condition...especially for being 30 years old. I have done a number of things since bringing it home and kept a list. If you are interested I can detail what I've done. Here is the picture:

I will try and get better pictures when I get home tonight.

We can play the negotiation game where I ask for $1,800 and you counter with $1,500 or I can cut to the chase and just let you know that I'll accept $1,500. Just so you know, I'm located in North Bradley, MI (this is half way between Sanford and Coleman, probably not even on a map). The nearest big city is Midland, MI.

By the way, it is an '83 XS650 Heritage Special. It does indeed run. I was getting 45 MPG over the highway. I can tell you that the rotor in the charging system is weak (big surprise, right?). However, I have an extra rotor and was planning to have both rewound by Custom Rotor Rewind (located way down in Louisiana or someplace like that). I was going to offer the guy to keep one and rewind the other for me. Just haven't had time which is why I'm selling it. I don't have time to ride any more and I can use the cash for other hobbies.

I can provide more details if you are interested.

Thanks for your interest.

jderoseiv -
Here are the pictures I promised. Unfortunately I can't give you all the good angles as she's tucked away behind the snow machine. She's dusty too after sitting all winter.

I'll PM you the running list of what I've done to the old girl. It's lengthy but detailed. I'll throw in ALL the extra parts I have sitting around. These are from either swapping out parts or just acquisitions that I picked up to maintain the old girl.

Let me know.

Brock

Thank you Brock for all the pictures and info. Unfortunately that is a bit out of my range right now .I could offer you $400 and a trade of a snow machine that runs great but I have lost the title for. Runs great a 91 yamaha srv 540 starts second pull every time. Hope I didn't offend with the counter. I'm just west from you across the pond about 4 hours away. In Mchenry county Illinois
