Ive been looking at relocating my ignition switch as ill be doing all new bars, with internal wiring, and miniswitches in the coming week. Anyone see a problem with having the ignition switch/ key in the side cover? I was thinking it should be easy enough to mount there and Ill be keeping the side covers for a while till I get a new battery.

Any better locations that dont require too much work?

I think the side covers are too flimsy to mount you key. You would probably want to weld a tab to the frame somewhere.

I agree. I welded a tab just under the seat on my old one and hooked up a pull switch for the headlights and a push button start. Worked perfect and you couldn't see them.

See the side cover. That is where mine is. I put a car type on there.
I reinforced the plastic with some fiberglass on the inside of the cover.
