Central stand

I just had a look around at mine, yours is definitely crooked. It looks like yours is resting on its two feet (which it's supposed to) AND the part where your foot presses on (mine is off the ground). The part on the frame where it blocks your center stand from turning further might be bent or missing, or it may be the center stand itself which is bent.

So yea, have a look and report back :)

No - they are stock - I think if its really bent - its because someone used to bumping on stand from rear to front like on swing;) Like my hommie used to say to his friends 'stop swinging on that bike you idiot' ;-)

I afraid I might be like that idiot. my center stand seems to be getting weaker too. I dont remember sitting on my bike while its on the center stand. but I must be. (may be my wife?) my bike seems to be drewping as well. Now what, I found that a 1"x6"x3' will allow me to get a wheel off the ground.

damn I didn't got that joke - but its because I don't understand (poor english ;))

I havnt have time to take off my stand yet. I will do it next week and post some pics.

Sorry Drewpy, I couldn't stop my fingers! :p (Overpl its a inside joke, meant to get someone excited, without being mean or spiteful, for those that caught it,(should have made us smile :) ), but umm Drewpy is busy currently, Hopefully he will be back with us again soon.

yup, but it doesnt mean that its bent - it can be a problem of springs or hole for bolts -they could worn out or sth

It just occurred to me that if you or a previous owner had installed rear shocks that were longer than the originals (perhaps to raise the back end) it would also affect the height of the rear wheels relative to the front wheels when the bike was on its centre stand.
If that's the case then the stand may not be bent but may need to be lengthened slightly by welding some additional steel onto the bottom of the legs.

I don't know I am thinking that a lot of us Fat @ss's are bending them up accidentally. It seems Yamaha had to work around a cross-beam, and that leads to a structural weakness. Yamaha didn't forsee that when they made the manual.

Lol. Superman was "able to bend steel with his bare hands". Just what, exactly, are you hinting at?
Hmm, how to put this ... ah, the one in your picture certainly is bent. How ever did it happen? A P.O. no doubt!

Nope, can't blame anyone but me. My @ss of steel. The bikes been my wife's since 1996. She garaged it for almost 10 years. I have to assume I might have been sitting on it, while it was on the center stand. Or my wife, or my two kids, who barely weigh 100 lbs together. Wife and I, together about 420lbs, 195 kilos, if I did the conversion right.

Okay, I have the mystery down. My wife told me yesterday, while I watched her attempt to start the bike. She said she is too short to do the kick start, and hold the bike up. So she's about 5'4" (162 cm) so she climbs up onto the bike with kick start down, and gets down on it. Then when she is ready to go, there she is. So up to the time I started working on the bike, she never did get the center stand down, so after I started working on it, and now its running, she has been doing that to that in this position as well.

So the question is, will I be able to just hammer it out, or am I going to need to reinforce the stands? once its straighten out?

Hi to all,
Can someone measure the length of the spring without tension? I bought a central foot/stand without a spring. I have to buy a spring. The original spring is unreachable. So I need to buy a replacement and I need some details. It would be nice to see the dimension of the screws :)
