Wont hold idle (cuts out)

Those style of bs32's where never used here in the u.s. so you won't be able to find them. I know there is a thread about the xs360 carb and also a few others about this style of carb.

I seem to remember reading that the bs32 carb was used on the xs1 or some early 70's Yamaha but can't remember where I read it.

please clean the small holes to the idle jets as they rise up from the carb throats in front of the butterflies with solvent and a small guitar string. That's where they clog.

Then check back in.
Then balance the carbs.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner on this, I only just got a chance to get to the bike yesterday!! Thanks everyone for the help and ideas much appreciated! Chris you were spot on  ended up being the jets in the float bowl. When I removed the pilot jets they were totally blocked. I stuck some guitar wire though them first then spray carb cleaner through and got them nice and clear. And now shes idling fine :bike:

cheers guys!

Nice.

They are tiny aren't they? I had to dig all the dirt out of my right carb bowl before i could clean my pilot jet.

Are you going up a size or 2 with your pilot jets?

Not sure pork it seems to be running ok just by raising the needle one notch. Where did you have to dig out the dirt from, was it above the jet?

I have spare standard jets to experiment with, I reckon I could drill them out to be slightly bigger. Has anyone done this or is it a bad idea?

I have drilled jets a bunch of times but never on this style of carb. They run so rich anyway compared to the later ones used on the 77-82 xs400's.
