Anyone ever hardtailed an 83 maxim XS400? Been cruising this forum for pictures of a hardtailed maxim but can't seem to find one. I know its possible and probably pretty easy, any advice or pictures of previous projects?

I had way better luck searching for "maxim bobber" over hardtail, but the idea is roughly the same. It looks like the maxim is super easy to hard tail even without any welding due to the monoshock setup. Most people seem to be replacing the monoshock with a solid piece of tube and just drilling holes for bolts.

I haven't seen any builds where someone truly replaced the entire rear section of the frame that I can remember, but there may be one or a few out there. This was a real quick search.

I hate the way they look normally, but with a new sporty tank they make a great bobber. I'm not picking on this one bike; I hate most 80's bikes. :p
