What did you do with your XS today?

Engine in, various bits painted, headlight and front indy's on, blanked the starter. Just away to start stripping/cutting/repairing the loom.

I was looking at getting that tail light. I got the turn signals that are the same style, in amber. haven't put them on yet. Don't forget to post pics when you've got it on!

I will have lots of pictures when it starts going back together. I also have the bullet turn signals as well. It should come out nice.

Hey, I'm looking at that style too. How's the weight? I'm making any and all cosmetic changes with an eye toward weight reduction, although I reckon almost any tail light would be lighter than the stock one.

It is all metal but I wouldn't say it's heavy. Under a lbs. I have all the stock parts I have removed in a big tote. The thing weighs close to 40lbs. I can't wait till it's time to ride the bike it will be a completely different experience.

I have the tank hanging in the "garage booth". Ready for 4 coats of epoxy primer. 1st coat

Cleaned up the clutch fibers and steel plates and painted up the emblems from gold to gray to match the rest of the bike... And put on 100 miles or so!

A highly unsatisfactory day dicking about with the front controls and wiring loom.

Anyone got any tips for getting the front brake master cylinder circlip out? what a brilliant place to put it....can hardly see it no matter get a pair of pliers on it......cheers Yamaha!

Also I don't think a wiring diagram for my bike actually exists and I have lost my filler cap.....meh back to the grind tomorrow.

I straight-up bought a new master cylinder assembly when I realized the diaphragm on mine was leaking because I couldn't figure out how to pull the thing apart. Best of luck to you.

I got the air out of my brake line yesterday/today. I found a quick trick online: just put a few strong rubber bands on the brake lever overnight and the air will escape into the master cylinder and be displaced with brake fluid. (keeping the lever pulled overnight allows the air to slowly rise up - it doesn't do this quick enough during normal use).

Of course this won't help you with a seized MC, or if you have dirty/old brake fluid, but for those of you interested in an alternative to pumping new brake fluid through your line, this works amazingly! Goodbye spongy brakes.

Today i found a guy locally who said he would take a look at my bike which has been plagued with electrical problems since i bought it. A friend with a trailer also said he would help move it there.

Hopefully i can get this all sorted out before then end of the month and that this guy (whos experience is cars and trucks) can fix my issues for a reasonable cost. His hourly is 2.5x lower then what the bike wants, so even if he goes slow i think i can save money.

*fingers crossed*

grind down a nail and using pliers, hook one end of the circlip out and then the other, it will ping out so do it in a plastic bag.

I had to destroy the rubber cover to do this, but had a kit to replace it anyway
