Made a great hole in my mess(garage) so I can park it there. Also made a cart to put it on so I can wheel it out when I work on it. Pretty Handy gets it up to where I'm not crouching any more. My knees and legs have taken such a beating working in a shop like ours. Tried to start it with no luck Should have charged the battery. Also installed a lawn mower fuel valve so it will shut off positively. Freakin Vacuum petcocks. If this works out I might leave it and use the petcock for main & reserve.

Futzed with the still non-working signal lights, but I think between my friend and I messing with it and some further info from here I've got the problem sorted out. Now it's time for LEDs to make new and exciting problems!

There is some really good content in here for LEDs. Helped me get mine to light up and flash in no time.

Pulled my carbs to get the right jetting in today. Found one of 'em in the bottom of the bowl, just chillin'. So I was all like :wtf: dude. Didn't show any signs of damage to the threads on either end, so I guess it just wasn't tight enough...
Also, my city is built on the Niagara Escarpment, so half of it is on top of a giant cliff. After fixing the jet that was flapping around (like a fart in a windstorm), I took the XS up and picked up a sweet pair of riding boots from a cobbler. Turns out they got dropped off for fixing but were never picked up afterwards :D

Yesterday I changed my mains too but didn't pull the carbs. Mine go in under a bolt in the bottom of the float bowl, so with a short hex-drive screw driver bit, a pair of pliers and a mirror (to be sure I knew what I was doing), I reached up inside the hole, unscrewed them then put in the new 140's.

Set my valves successfully. 1st time I set them I had the clearances switched front to back cuz I was in a hurry.

Also set up my mamometer and left it to even out overnight. Syncing the carbs today.

Here I am doing all this work in nice weather. Gotta get riding, rain is on the way again.

STARTED The Rebuild!!!!! Finally Checked Stator, tested fine, seen uninsulated white wire in the inside part of the housing(trying to fix that) found all the parts to put the engine together. so today, final check of the Case fitment, and get the head on!!!!

Surface rust, OHHHHH busting the rust with oil/nylon scrubbies!

No.. not out of oil..LOL but I found that once the level on that little oil level glass got to the mid range ( I had filled it to the top) those spots on the garage floor stopped. That's a relief as replacing gaskets would have been a major leap of my mechanical skills.:bike:
