What did you do with your XS today?

Shiny new brake piston feat. rum. I also picked up a set of R6 forks and triples very, very cheap.

$50, just the fork tubes, lower triple and stem. The one fork is bent and the guy just wanted them out of his shed. No controls, I've got new controls for my bike on clip ons so I'm just going to get 41mm clipon brackets and swap them over.

Rebled my brakes after yesterday's piston install, hoping they're finally done and I can stop messing around with them. Swapped the stock jets back into my carbs because one size oversize was too rich and discovered that I'm missing one of the brass washers that goes under the main jet. None to be had in the city so I had to order from Toronto, hopefully will be here by the end of the week. Also passed my motorcycle road test! I'm legit, finally.

Got some riding in this weekend thanks to some amazing weather.

felt like its running on one cylinder in lower RPMs.... guess its time to run through the carbs again. Just bought a new air compressor that I've been wanting to play with!

Smoothed off a few tabs I cut off on my frame, painted my seat hoop, rechecked my valve clearances, accidentally cut a signal wire, went for a ride!

Bike is running pretty decent, but it's feeling a bit gutless in the lower/mid RPM range. It only really picks up speed at higher RPM (around 6k).

well i hope you used accurate hand signals! :bike:

i believe thats the meat of the 400's powerband, but is your float level to spec? might need to raise needles one tab (or washer)

Bit the bullet & ordered new a sprocket & Filters from Mikes. Then bent a tracker bar for the bike at work last night. I just used thoughts in my head and some .875 od x .083 scrap high strength tube. Looks like it'll work well.

Turn signals arrived from China. Need to figure out how they will be mounted. Also, these have 3 wires, and the originals only had 2. Hrm.

3 wires would have the lights operating as marker lights and turn signals. You don't have to use the marker light function. But it is handy if you park on the road at night.

Changed out my tires. DOTs on the old ones said they were manufactured in March 2000.
New back tire is a little old for my liking (June 2011), so I may take it back and ask for a newer tire or at least some store credit. I have my eye on a set of highway pegs at the store, so maybe I can strike a deal for them.

Oh, that makes sense. How would you wire them up to act as marker lights?

Put a new fuel filter on the 80 and dropped the brake light down a bit for a cleaner look.

Today I cut the threaded end of an old bicycle crank and welded it onto the original kickstart arm. I added a white rubber Union 9/16 pedal and hey presto an old school look which is much easier to start now!!:)
