Does anyone have good/bad experiences with Cone Engineering?

I am in the market for new exhaust and the Quiet-er Core exhaust caught my eye - first due to style, second I assume they are not as loud as similar mufflers (I have no desire to be THAT neighbour), and third they look to be great build quality.

Any sound bites, video clips or experiences are appreciated. They are not the cheapest options out there, but I am hoping I wouldn't be disappointed with the investment.

Yes, Dime City sells Cone Engineering.

For slip-on what is the OD of our bikes pipe?

Pretty sure it's 1.875". I have been wondering how to install these, would I be correct in assuming that you need to cut off the stock pipes before it tapers and slip these on?

I think that's the idea. But my headers are rusty, so this won't work for me. I'm still wondering if I can get my pipes re-chromed.

You won't be disappointed:thumbsup:
I had their collector and reverse cone and the sound was pure bliss. Huge improvement over the cheap emgo cone that sounded like crap. The weight savings were an added bonus as well:D

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did that exhaust set you back? It looks beautiful. What kind of performance gains do you get from it? How much louder than stock? Well done!

Prolly under $200 with brand new headers which I got bent locally. Hard to say, but the weight savings alone were worth the effort.

Frwinks, you mentioned your header was bent at a local shop ... how did that work out? Did they start with two individual pipes, bend them, and rig up a collector??? If so ...man that's tempting ... but then again, I just wrapped my pipes last night and would hate to throw that cash away...

Thanks,

- J

Any exhaust/muffler shop that has any idea what they are doing can bend up a full exhaust. Most will want you to supply your own collector. The shop down the street from me gives you the choice of stainless, mild steel, or aluminized tubing. Just be sure to check out the shops equipment first (some use shitty benders that simply crush the tubing to bend it) and ask to see their prior work. I've had full custom vehicle exhausts bent up (with my supplied collector, cats, and muffler) for under $120.

Thanks so much wolfe this is also tempting me to do the same.Problem I have in my city is finding a good shop who knows wtf they are doing.Did they also make a lip at the front of the pipe before your collector?

I'm making my own exhaust this time around since I bought a decent mig setup. I'm cutting the headers right after the bend and then using mandrel bent tubing cut to fit after that point on.

As for your question, they should be able to do whatever you ask/want/need/desire. The problem is finding that good shop. Usually they are tucked away and look like they shouldn't even be in business. I found my go to shop by word of mouth. Just stay away from the chains, I used to work for one. I did the best work I could there, but they are all about speed and cutting costs. The work done comes out crap to say the least.

def find a shop with a mandrel bender and not a pipe kinker if going from scratch on this.
Custom tube bending shops are prolly a better option for something like this rather than your local muffler shop:D You could always ask Cone to bend up the headers for you, they do some crazy wild stuff over there....

For me, I had Steve at http://condraulic.com/ :D supply and bend the SS pipes, then my buddy and I did all the grunt work putting it all together. In the end, ended up with a great flowing and sounding, clean looking system.
