I'm having my sister in law sew the pleats and edging on my brat style seat with marine vinyl. (Might upgrade to leather one day)
I see a lot of aluminum seat pans for sale and I have some 1/8" aluminum that'll work great. I've searched and searched but can't come up with how guys are attaching their upholstery to the aluminum. With wood one would just staple. Aluminum?

Pop rivets. A pop riveter and rivets with little washers seem to work.

Rivets or glue. Upholsterers often work with a 2k glue that will hold the covers in place

I brought my aluminum seat pan to an upholsterer. He riveted a strip of what seemed to be automotive tire bead to the perimeter of the seat, then stapled the vinyl onto that rubber. It has held up great for two years now.

That is what I did.
