Alright, I'll throw this out there.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I've got my head off the bike due to a bolt that got sucked in and damaged a valve and the head. The head is repairable, but I found a good used head for less than a head rebuild, cleaned it up and lapped the valves- the head is ready to go on.
...but here I sit. If i were going to replace the rings, now is the time. There is no ridge in the cylinder and it does not need to be re-bored (which is ironic because I'm sitting on a set of 1st over rings that I scooped up cheap just in case). The compression before the head damage was around 130 on both and though it is a very little low, it ran great.
Should I just go ahead and put a set of rings in and bottle brush the bores? Money isn't an issue, but since I ride very little and only for pleasure, I'm not sure it's worth it to fix a problem that isn't really a there.
