Hey guys, I'm in the process of replacing the fork seals on my bike. 81 SOHC/H The issue i'm having is that I can't seem to figure out how to remove the vanity Yamaha cover that covers the lower triple tree. I was able to loosen the bolt and remove the forks. Now when it comes time to torque the lower bolts the plate covers the bolt up. help please!:umm::doh:

I just took mine off a month ago. Haven't put it back on.
It was a struggle to remove.
Seems like you'd have to either tighten the bolts with it in place or take off the upper triple tree to be able to slide the vanity cover and headlight brackets up.

The picture should illustrate the difficulty. The cover is a slip fit over the forks but the tubes of the headlight bracket fit into the top of the rubber grommet in the cover.

Thanks BBS360! that looks like a pain in the rear to do all that just to replace the fork seals. Thanks for the response. I think I will be able to get a crows foot under it . I will post if it works. I just want to get a torque wrench on it. I have been know to over tighten bolts!:banghead:

When I did my forks, I left that in place. I was able to drop my forks down, by loosening the top clamps. at least that is what I remember.

Thanks I was able to leave it in place and replace the seals. Then when it put it back together I was able to torque it with a crows foot attached to the torque wrench. All good now nice and dry forks now. No leaky leaky !:bike:
