Hey guys, so my ignition has a broken key in it. I tried dismantling the cylinder but its pretty solid and I didnt want to start chopping wires and breaking stuff so i left it alone.

Any ideas on how to get the key out? The previous owner had a key made from the gas tank lock so I do have a key. I want to try and keep one key to the bike that will work with all the locks on it.

My bike is in my attic in a couple boxes at the moment. Tore it down to transport and get the frame welded and painted

Here is an idea - using one of those 'point' electric welding units touch the piece of key that is stuck with the wire so that wire 'welds' to it, and then pull it out. Just try on something else first... or using dremel and small(tiny) drill drill a hole into the piece, and then screw a tiny screw and pull...

I've had a similar idea. But I thought of something else that might work. I'm gonna try using a drill and a screw... if it works, I will make a DIY lol

Well, I got around to examining my ignition cylinder. I pulled the tabs on the back open to reveal the contact points, which gave way to the actual lock cylinder and I was able to remove it from the housing. I noticed that the brass tumblers in the cylinder where ruined from someone jamming a screwdriver in it and forcing the ignition to turn.

I was thinking of searching for a tumbler kit so I can retain the single key for all locks but I may just end up buying a new unit since I plan on relocating it anyways.

I cannot find a place that would sell tumblers. any ideas?
