I've most finished my 79 SOHC engine rebuild and I've found two bits that I'm not sure where they belong, hoping I haven't missed anything important and was wondering if anyone can identify them. I also need replacements for the tiny bolts that hold the wires for the neutral switch and oil pressure unit. If anyone knows their specifications. IMG_20170621_194302.jpg

I managed to get replacements for the oil pressure and the neutral switch wires which I think will work. Still no idea where the two bolts from the picture go. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help. They were in the bag I had the bolts for the points in, but I don't think they're related.

Could compare the diameter and lengths to the bolt part #s. Yamaha bolt #s break down into diameter and length.
Big one could be for the fuel tank. Little one may be the points cover?

Top one, I am thinking is the one for the air box holder. or maybe the fuel tank hold down? The next one seems like a banjo bolt, but I can not see the fluid hole, (fuel inlet?)

I think one is for the gas tank, the points cover bolts are accounted for so its not one of those. The airbox and carburetor parts were stored separately from the engine, so I don't think the other is related to those, but ill have to check. Currently dealing with a heatwave, so working on the bike has temporarily paused, but when it cools down I'm hoping to put the engine back in the frame and hopefully will be able to figure out where the last bolts go and get this thing running again.

Yes that one looks like the gas tank bolt.

Heat wave cmon its only a 100 today.......I was out cleaning my frame and pulled the tires of the rims so they can go to the blaster this week. I think I lost a few gallons out there........

Did you do the motor yourself or have ay work outsourced ? I may be looking for some motor work.

I grew up in Scotland so anything above 70 and I start to melt. I did all the work myself, but all I really did was take it apart and replace and clean parts, I don't do any machining or anything that requires any kind of skill. Most of the places around Portland are going to over charge you just to make it worth their time, you're better off reading up and doing it yourself.

Yeah I have been here all my life and well I cant stand it over 70 either.........

I have one that ran so am hoping it all works. I only got to hear it run. Otherwise I have 3 engines total so can pull one apart and play with it.

Figured out the bolts were for the gas tank, and the other is for the tachometer cable. Engine is back in the frame and I just need a final rebuild of the carburetors and the petcock and this thing should be ready to run.
