Hi Guys,

A great, helpful site this. Spent a lot of time on here.

Been building an 1980 XS400 SE
I've just about finished the build, but a few things niggling me.

Rear Wheel.

On a drum brake model, the order on the rear axle (from Drive Side to RHS) is:

Spacer/Cover (big disk thing) | Big Seal | Big Bearing (With Top Hat) | Long Spacer | Small Bearing | Small Seal | Drum Cover | Big Spacer

The big seal on the drive side sits inside the lip of the bearing seat to make room for the cover I assume?

What I can't figure out is that on the RHS how doest the bearing seal stay in place as the bearing sits flush with the lip of the bearing seat. (other than the Axle obvs)

I've left this off for now, and when I tighten the axle up, it get tight then there is a little creek before I need to tighten it some more, and at this point the drum brake cover won't spin. Is it purely just because I didn't put the bearing seal in? Seems odd.

Got lots of other questions but will just start with this for now. Few pics attached of her nearly done. Just the seat to go!!

Appreciate any help.

Cant help as I don't have a rear drum but nice looking bike you have there! I like the looks!
