Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if the lever in the picture below could be used on an 1982 XS400 SJ Heritage Special?

I'd like to get more modern levers, but my bike has a rather large brake switch that connects to the lever. It has two wires (brown lead and yellow/green that goes to the tail light). It looks like most aftermarket stuff doesn't account for this switch.

However, the lever in the picture has two connector pins, which I assume I could attach my wires to and make it work. Thoughts?

Looks like it can be made to work. Might just have to crimp new terminals.
I'd make sure the product page states that there's a switch if it's not obvious.

They do often come with wires.

Thanks BBS360,

I’ll double check the description, but I was thinking that a good crimp job could likely work.

I’ll reply to this thread when I find out.

Also what bore is that master cylinder? Try and get one the same otherwise you may have to much or to little pressure.

As for the wires yes just crimp on connectors and it should be ok. I have seen a few aftermarket ones and they all seem to work the same way.

Thanks spectra

I’d be looking for a 14mm bore like stock, but I’ve read a 11-12mm bore could make the brakes harder/better? Would that be too much pressure or a good idea?

I ran a 13mm magura on mine and had no issues. I would think you want to keep a nice easy feel on the brakes. A hard pull may not be a good thing.
