battery yes or no?

Hi guys,
I am transforming my XS400, I am considering not to put the battery. You that you say?

I say it will not work. You need battery for ignition. Even if you try to kickstart it, there is no voltage for field coil to make magnetic field for alternator to make voltage. Battery is also needed for filtering voltage peaks.
Why you don't want a battery there?

Yes you need something there. Search there are a few builds on here that used small batteries and were kick only bikes.

I wanted to remove the battery for an aesthetical matter, but if it is not possible, do you know how to recommend me a smaller battery please?
