Pods to fit in airbox

I'm new to this site, just got a 81 xs400 special a week ago. The stock air filter set up was basically disentegrated, just the cage left. I'm thinking I should go with the pod air filters since the bike has been breathing basically unrestricted for so long. What pod size would I need to go with to get them to seat inside the H shaped air hose? I'd rather not just attach straight to carbs

You can still buy original/repro filters to go inside the cases.

I cleaned the old ones up really good and ordered the UNI foam pad to make new filters, but I wanna try both

I've got another issue, with the the filters inside of the plastic cases, I can't get the end of the filter seated in the H shaped hose correctly. Any tips?

I ended up figuring it out, I think it's running good with the stock filter set up too. Thanks for the help though
