Hi guys,

I have a 1982 XS400SJ Heritage Special - SOHC.
I'll post my entire rebuild journey and pictures soon, but for now I have a question about the pickup (pulsar) wires. As you'll see in the picture below, the wires that seem to be running out of mine are orange, black, and white (maybe grey).

On most wire diagrams I could find, it's showing these should be red, blue, and black....which mine are definitely not. I'm just wondering which wires these correspond to going to the TCI/Controller unit.

From the TCI unit, I'm pretty sure I need to match to the white/red, white/green, black/white wires, but don't want to mess it up. Any help would be appreciated!

Are you wanting to know where they hook up ? If so there should be another plug that comes out of the TCI box to plug into. Pretty straight forward unless someone has cut the plug off ?

Sorry Spectra, guess I wasn't all that clear with providing background to my question.

The old wiring harness had been removed because it was pretty beat up, and I'm rewiring everything custom to be kickstart only.
I was actually able to figure it out this afternoon after digging out the od harness and locating the connector for these wires.
For anyone's reference, here it is:

From the Pickup to the TCI
Orange - White/Red
Grey - White/Green
Black - Black/White

Good that you figured it out. Not much to these bikes really electrical wise. I have a 81 or 82 also but the wiring harness in it was perfect........even the fuse block looks great. Now my other one was a total re wire.......I got the bike with automotive coils zip tied to the frame :laugh2: but it ran..........
