Hey fellow xs'ers
I've just installed some K&N oval pods and some open pipes and now preparing to re-jet to suit. my problem is, where the hell do you find xs360 pilot jets!!!!! these things seem to just not exist! I've read a couple threads here on the forum of people going up from the #17.5 to #20. but Im yet to find anyone online selling these or any other size for that matter.

I know the xs400 pilot jets are different, but does anyone know of any other jets that will fit? for example, would the mikuni N151/067 jets work in a xs360? I'm assuming the BS30/96 aren't compatible since they have bleed holes.

any help would be amazing, its warming up here in Aus and I need to get riding!!!

Stock 360 pilot jets are pretty hard to find. I got lucky and found NOS ones on EBay. They weren't cheap, but they were still in the packaging. You might be OK with the stock pilot jet though. 360 carbs run richer than the stock 400s carbs too so its become a popular swap with 400s.

Jetting depends on a lot of things beside what you've done to it.. Its hardly a " 2+2=4 " type of deal. I went through a multitude of jets before I narrowed it down, took most of the Summer ( 3-4 months) Going bigger isn't always the answer...

Thanks Mike, I've managed to source some here at a local shop but the are $25 each so I was hoping to find some cheaper ones online. what did you end up using on your build?

I haven't fiddled with the air screw yet so hopefully that might enrich it just enough. it will currently run with the choke in but wont idle without a little bit of throttle. although this seems to be also fouling the plugs......carb tuning feels a bit like 2+2=:poo:

That's about what I paid for my pilot jets each as well. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet.. As always, you need to make sure that all your maintenance is up to date on the engine before you start tuning. Take the bike out for a ride and get it nice and warmed up. Tuning the bike after its been idling for a couple minutes will not be enough to get it up to operating temps. I also need to give mine some throttle after I start it for a bit, but it goes away soon after.

I have stock air boxes and H-pipe, with stock headers and a tapered baffled exhaust. Stock pilot jets and jetted down to 132.5. Stock main jets are 135.

thanks BB, they look about right. still at that $25 price point....I think that's the norm unfortunately. I reckon I'll get a set of 20's and 25's this weekend and see what works.

That’s very interesting. I have a stock 360 with the new Mac pipes and headers. I turned the mixture screw out 4 turns just to get it to not pop on decel.

Getting the mufflers to seal on the headers was a pain. That caused a lot of backfiring on decel for me. The first mufflers I had were crap. The fitment was terrible and wasnt even the same size as the header. These popped A LOT.

The tapered mufflers I have now, had a downsizing ring and a clamp to get the fitment much better, but in the end, I still had to use high temp RTV sealant to get a good seal there.

I had two of the supplied studs break off in the head. Wrong grade of steel. The stock ones don’t break. I should check the two I didn’t bust off and see if the gasket is sealing between header and head.

I’m afraid to take them off now since they will most likely snap off in the head. Ugh. Maybe I’ll do it with them hot this time.

little update:
so pilot jets are now size 20 (up from the stock 17.5) and mains are 137.5 (up from 135). idle screws are 2 turns out and needle is in middle position (as stock). I've synchronised the carbs using a gauge synchroniser (very cheap one) and they are looking pretty good, I'll probably make a DIY liquid synchroniser as well as these can actually be even more accurate for fine tuning.

Bike starts easily and idles nicely at about 1,250rpm and throttle feels really nice. next step will be to find a nice bit of open road and do a few full open throttle runs to check that the mains are good.

I don't know if I mentioned earlier but my mods are as follows:
-Mike XS oval pods
-Emgo shorty exhausts with steel wool wrapped baffles (so the neighbours don't call the cops)
-Pamco ignition
-non vacuum fuel tap (vacuum ports capped).

I would ditch the mikesxs pods and emgo's. Black foam un-capped end uni's and a set of mac megaphone mufflers with actual baffles will give you a much better overall tune.
