Thanks, that chrome piece on the tank was added by the PO. Its just chrome plastic from Auto Zone that will be gone when we paint the tank. The clutch assembly that I bought had the aluminum lever already on it, thought it came that way. I'll coat it with plasti-dip to match later and I'll reverse the back foot pegs. Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. The exhaust will look great on the bike.

The tank has several gouges on the right side down to the primer so I will sand it down and prime it, etc, etc. I have a NOS side cover in new ruby red hoping I can get a color match from that. If not I'm going with Black Cherry which is very close to original.

A good paint shop should be able to get the color code from yamaha or match the tank. If it was me, I would rather have a stock tank with a few scratches than a custom color/paint. These tanks are only like this once. After you sand and paint them they will never look the same. Unless your a pro auto body/paint guy. If you do re-paint make sure they use a good fuel resistant clear.

Thanks, I have a custom paint shop that will be able to match the new ruby red using the nos side cover. I painted several cars in my earlier life and did my corvette twice so hopefully I'll be able to knock out the tank with time and patience. I painted the frame on my 400 and clear coated it with a 2k formula and it came out nice almost like it was powder coated.
