And then there was five.

It's been two years and I have been putting it back to as stock as I can. I have put 2500 miles on it and it still runs fine. I had to replace the tach seal as it was leaking very bad. I also replaced the cam seal as I was already there anyways. Other than the petcock, 81 mirrors and iridium plugs it's mostly all stock. The stock 80 style mirrors are horrible to adjust so I may just keep the 81 style instead.

Where do you find these cheap bike's? Here in England, a basket case would cost in the region of £750.00 (GBP) The bike on my profile cost me £1100.00! and I later found out that the coil's and CDI unit were on their way out!

Keep in mind I had to put lots of work and money into getting these to this point. A$150 bike can become a $900 bike quick. In the u.s. these bike ar/where cheap throw away bikes in the day so most people still see them as that. The size of them make them a beginner size and a lot of people move on to larger ones after a short time.

How do you decide which to ride on a given day? :)
They all have a different feel to them. But it's a pain to maintain five. Last year I pulled the 81 off the road and sold off a bunch of parts. I kept the frame , motor, wheels and some other bits. This will help keep things easier for me. I may even pull another off the road this year. Less to deal with!!!

Yep, that's the truth. I moved to a town of 3000 so I don't get my 400 out much (or get on here at all anymore :( ), it also needs a new clutch, last time I rode it I managed to slip it a bit going up a steep hill in top gear. I bought a 1980 CB750K as a new money pit that has a bit (alot) more umph to go down the highway to work/back.

Sure do wish my bike looked like that one xschris. I still have alot of work to do on my bike. For the tach and spedo bodies do you ever paint them with rattle can? Those look real nice compared to mine!

I have in the past for when originality isn't an issue. But all my bike now have oem bodies now. Vintage Yamaha paint is hard to match.
