Turn signals constantly on

So I am working on restoring a 1981 xs400sh to street legal condition. The guy that used to own it stripped it down to race it and removed all the switches and lights. After hooking up the switches and the lights the turn signals all stay on as long as the bike is on. any ideas?
 
I don't know these bikes that well so this is a guess but I know there's a device called signal cancellation unit on my 78 that is just in front of the battery and looks like this

Check your years model parts diagrams to see if you're supposed to have one?
 
Here is a video of what happens, the turn signal switch currently does nothing.
I do have an auto canceler. do you think it might have given up the ghost?
 
My guess is your wiring is wrong. If your using aftermarket type signals that will also cause issues but they all shouldn't work at the same time.
 
I'm new to bikes but from my understanding the only issue with LED flashers is needing resistors or a new relay made for leds. I have a new 2 prong LED relay currently which from what I see on the wiring diagram should work fine.
 
My comment was more that they are all on at the same time...I think there is a diode that you can wire in as this guy did on his Honda, around the 5-6min mark.

 
LEDs can back feed through the dash indicator and flash all at once. Try taking the dash bulb out.
Should operate normally.
The fix is the previously mentioned diodes to be added at the dash indicator.
 
When Working with Electrics, you need to account for the lower amps LEDs require compared to traditional bulbs. Also make sure all your wiring is correct. My Xs360 took hours to work. Like above, Diodes will prevent current going back into the system. Hope that helps

That seams to resolve the problem. now just to trouble shoot why its not starting now.
 
There are three issues of not starting: Ignition: Are your spark plugs working, or your coils? Timing could be at fault if you have 1 ignition, no idle. Fuel: Is your petcock blocked? Are your internal fuel filters bad? and are the floats/Idle Screws properly adjusted? Compression: You could not be starting because the compression cant pull in the Fuel/Air Mixture. I have a Fuel Issue on my Xs360, which i figured out was a clogged petcock. Spray some type of flammable aerosol into the carbs and see if you get ignition. That's how you tell if you have fuel issues. Compression can be checked by a compression tester, and replacing spark plugs is always a good idea when working on 30 year old machines. Well it was "running" before I started to put it back to road legal. He was missing the vacuum plug on the right side carb boot so it was only firing on the left side till you got the rpm up as right side was super lean. So that's fixed, but I still need to do some adjustments. I am getting spark (looks alittle weak) on both sides. It is difficult to test because its set up for kick start only.
 
I plan on getting the starter working again, I originally picked this up as a parts bike for my 1977 but it was in better shape so I figured I would get it running for something to ride while i work on the 1977. The previous owner stripped it down for racing and I just want to get it back on the road. The current battery is too small for electric start.
 
I got my 76 Xs360 from my dad, which was stored behind by garage since 1990. I didn't even know about it till my fence was replaced. I walked round the block to my neighbors yard. 5 years later, with swapping houses 3 times, it finally came to rest in the garage. I didn't figure it out how rare my Xs360 was compared to other 70's UJMs till a couple months ago. Only 3k were ever made and its one of the rarest production bikes out there, but not 1 of a kind. I'm doing a full restoration of the bike.
 
A 12v battery will be good for what you need. Lithium Ion Batteries will just reduce weight, and need to be warmed up. A traditional battery will serve you well in the long-run.
the current battery is a 12v 1.37A sealed lead acid battery. It will work for now until I want to put the battery tray back to original.
