Hello all!

Since I have been reading this forum for a while now since I got myself a XS400 I tought it was best to sign myself up and show myself. My name is Luuk and I'm from the Netherlands.

While working on my motorcycle license I found a bike on the internet which I fell in love with. I'm sure this bike is familiar on this forum, the Pocket Rocket XS400.

After getting my license I bought myself a Suzuki GSX-R 750 K6 as daily fun bike, and also a Yamaha XS400 from 1978. The Yamaha was a project bike by the previous owner which stopped halfway working on it since he got health issues which made it very hard to work on the bike, and riding it would be even a bigger challenge if he could ever finish it. From time to time we still have contact and talk a little bit about the bike and i show him how to process is going. And ofcourse when the bike is done the first thing I want to do is show him the bike :)!

The biggest challenge for me with a project like this is that I have 0 experience doing something like this, I can do some basic stuf on a bike but rebuilding it and knowing how every part works and does what is a big learning experience for me. So why do even start a project like this? Well I like a challenge, and I look forward to be able to ride a bike which I build (for a part, since the previous owner did alot of work aswell) and be proud that I made it.

What has been done so far.
- Carbs been cleaned and rebuilded.
- Frame chopped and motor painted.
- Front fork has been rebuild.
- Tank primered and painted (not showing on pictures).
- Inside of the tank has been derusted and coated on the inside.
and more things i cannot sum up right now.

And thats where I hope you guys can help me out, Im sure I will run into some issues or riddles I cant solve myself.

Well there is alot more to talk about but let me show you the bike :)!
This was the bike when i picked it up:

The bike will get a Motogadget unit in it to make wiring easier and new. tank has been sprayed in white with red yamaha racing blocks on the sides.

Short term plans:
Getting the bike to run, and stop proberly.

When the bike runs (hopefully this summer) it will be teared down in the winter and I want to adjust the frame some more (shorter seat). reupholster the seat itself and some more cosmetic work. it will get some clip on bars aswell and more stuf!

Even though I already spend some time in the bike and changed some small things, I think for a first post this is enough :)

Great looking ride. Seemed to be a professional rebuild in place before it reached your hands. Look forward to seeing the finishing touches
