I want to go to an LED taillight setup, since I went to a halogen headlight I want to reduce the draw and I want to be "as seen" as possible. After researching Im finding the only bulbs worth spending money on are $30+ per bulb so Xs 2 is over $60 once you factor in shipping/tax or want not. Do I have any other options such as converting to a single LED assembly or anything like that?

If you keep the original tail light, there are bulbs cheaper that will perform perfectly. I bought a set for my bike last year. This set should do - from the seller I have used a few times:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2pcs...rQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1212wt_943

Two of these bulbs, together, will consume less than 1 amp.

When adapting LED bulbs to old style reflectors, some trial and error might be necessary as the reflectors were not designed for LED bulbs. LED bulbs project light in a very linear fashion, not radiated 360 like filament bulbs. If you don't have the correct LED bulbs matched to your reflector, the stop/tail lights will be dimmer and not easily seen from the rear. My LED bulbs are ringed with side-facing emitters as well as rear facing emitters for the proper light distribution in the old design reflectors.

Thats what I'm looking for, ebay is so hit or miss that I wanted someone to chime in and say they have used certain ones and they work. I still have the factory tail light, so if I get those bulbs you posted will i need to modify them or the tail light at all in order to get the maximum performance?

If you use the factory tail light, these bulbs are a direct replacement and no mods are necessary to the tail light.
Hey Oliver do you know what the specs of the led bulbs are? The link you provided has expired and I want to upgrade my tail light and turn signals bulbs to led. If you have any links please let me know or you could tell me the size of the bulbs for tail and turn signals so that I could try to find them if you aren’t. Thanks

The stock bulbs for the tail/brake is an 1157. These are two element bulbs.
The stock turns use an 1156, single element bulbs.
Most LED bulbs use the same numbers. You can buy LED bulbs most anywhere regular bulbs are sold. Even Wal Mart.
Online I use www.superbrightleds.com They have many bulbs that fit. The tower ones are the ones I like. They have then with differing amounts of LED's mounted on the tower. More LED's = more light.
For the turn signals, they have a flasher unit that is a good replacement for the stock flasher. It comes in two styles, one has bullet connectors the other has flat blade connectors in a plastic block, That's the one I use. You take the wire out of the block. You just plug these wire straight into the socket the stock flasher plugs into. The red wire goes in where the brown wire goes, the other plugs I where the brown/white wire goes. Disregard the third wire. That just goes to the self canceler. You don't need that, just be sure you turn the signals off.

Another thing, the superbright flasher can run LED lights as well as regular bulbs. up to 150 watts of lights.

Thanks Leo. Can you recommend any led turn signal indicators? At first I was thinking to go with the regular indicators and just replace the stock bulbs to led and now I started to think to just replace the whole thing. Do you know any turn signal and taillight styles that would look good for my bike? Any pictures/links/recommendations would be helpful. thanks

I like the stock units with LED bulbs. I don't think any of the aftermarket LED turns look good on a vintage bike,
