I just got a donor bike with a running 400 engine. Now I'm trying to decide whether to rebuild my old 360 motor to have as a spare or to sell. Is it worth the trouble and expense?

It depends. I still have my 360 block and it has a blown tranny. It should still have a good top end that I can use. Late 360 cases are machined to accept 400cc cylinders/jug. My 360 case is one of the early ones produced and Id have to machine some material off the cylinder openings on the case.

I liked 360 engine because it has the square head design, the later 400 engines had round fins on the cylinders and it takes away from the look, especially when you have the 360 gas tank. Early 400s had square cylinders too
