For Sale - 1979 XS400F Motor Parting Out

This motor came off of a bike that I bought for the frame and wiring harness. While the engine was in the frame I attached a kick-start lever and was able to turn the engine over and felt compression coming out of the header pipes. It's not seized up, but that's about all I can say about it.

The stator side cover has been hacked up. Carbs and headers were on the bike when I got it, and the engine has been indoors since their removal. VIN was 2V6

I'd like to get $75 for it, if it doesn't sell for that then it's going to be parted out on eBay this summer. Local pickup is much preferred. I would be willing to ship it if nobody local turns up, but the buyer would have to cover the cost of shipping and crating.



I also have the air filter boot in decent shape as well as one side cover in rough shape (black) if anyone is interested let me know.

One of the forum members requested some parts off this engine, and since there didn't seem to be any interest in the engine as a whole I decided to start parting it out.

So far gone (list will be updated as parts are sold):

• starter elimination hardware
• Points cover

If anyone would like anything else, please let me know. I'm not asking a lot of money, but you may have to wait for some parts depending on difficulty of retrieval.
I've already pulled the stator and will be pulling the rotor soon.

Update: Top end is now sold as well.

Still available: Crankcase, stator, breather cover, clutch cover, starter cover, etc. Not asking much more than shipping for it at this point. When the snow melts, it all goes to that great big scrap yard in the sky...
