So I bought a 1983 XS400K from Offerup. The previous owner installed an IgniTech programmable onto the bike using a pick-up coil from an R6. The bike ran mostly on the right cylinder, he had removed the air box and only plugged the right nipple on the intake manifold. Now that I've run a piece of vacuum tube between the two intake manifolds it seems to be running MUCH more evenly. I also replaced the halogen bulb with an LED unit and removed the eBay tachometer the previous owner installed. He had plugged one of the harness legs into the bikes because they fit together, but nothing worked on the tach at all. Now I can't ride the bike more than 1000 feet without popping the main 20 amp fuse. I also for the life of me cannot find a 1983 DOHC USDM wiring diagram which makes this all a little difficult. I purchased a modern looking speedo/tach/odo unit that's compatible with the IgniTech system, I just need to figure out which wires go where so I can get to soldering pins.
To address the popping fuse issue I'm going to put back the halogen head lamp and see what happens. I'd really like to find a wiring diagram so I can start properly checking the harness for shorts with as little guessing as possible. The ones I saw on the wiring diagram thread here were not compatible with this bike.
