XS400 1980 not charging battery

Today checked field coil ground resistance readings again and now its not showing that it gets any ground. Shows "1" on multimeter. Havent touched anything, so im not hoping its fixed yet.

I also tried the direct power to field coil and razor blade test. But it still didnt hold the razor blade

I'll try to find new battery and then continue with testing.

11.4 to the field coil at rest isn't spectacular, but that should be enough to successfully power up the field coil when running. 12.4V fully charged isn't great, more like 12.7 just off the charger or 12.6 after sitting for a bit is better. Do you fully trust your multimeter and measurement leads? Fresh battery in the multimeter itself?

Yes, i feel pretty good about my multimeter. About one month old.
