Hi all,
Just joined up as bought an 81 XS400 custom this weekend, one question, I bought it as a 400, log book says 400 but everywhere I put the reg plate in for insurance quotes etc it says it’s a 250?! Can I tell by engine numbers etc what cc it is? Cheers.

Should be stamped on the front of the motor between cylinders.

Hi, so I have been doing lots of digging around and it seems I have bought a XS250SE (4G6) with a 391cc engine! Not sure what problems this is going to cause when buying parts for frame or engine. It seems the frame and ancillaries are all pretty interchangeable between the models, I just need to find an 18” rear wheel now! I may be looking for some time!
