Hi folks,

So I want to just get a new front wheel for my xs400 cafe project, which I gather means new forks also, which is fine. Budget will probably allow for it.

I'm a rookie though, and don't really know how to find a compatible set of forks for this kind of thing.

Is it as simple as looking at the various specs/measurements and then finding aftermarket shocks and a front wheel with disc brake?

Thanks!

Easiest way is to get a complete setup from a xs400 that came with a disc setup. All sohc xs400 bikes that came with front disc brake where mag wheels. So if mags are ok your good. The yamaha xs360 did use a spoke front disc setup but those are hard to find.

If you want to get as close to the look with newish condition, find a complete front end for a Yamaha SR400 -triple clamps, forks, wheel, fender, and caliper/master cylinder. It'll gain you some strength and rigidity going from 33mm forks to 35mm and be simple to assemble.
