Future plans:
  • lower head lights
  • change grips to biltwell diamond grips to match seat.
  • emgo reverse cone mufflers
  • wrap pipes
  • euro bars
  • change to smaller tach and speedo
  • change fender to shorter ones(need help)
So ive been searching for the past couple of hours online for front fender like this, but no luck. Can anyone link me to something similar that theyve used on their build? Thanks

Welcome. For the fender, Id probably pick up a xs360/400 stock plastic fender and cut it down to my liking and paint it. Theres tons of fenders that are cracked or have bad paint so theyd be perfect to modify without feeling bad. Also, I like the factory bracket that comes with the fender. I think you should keep the original bracket as it adds a little support of the forks. The fender you posted looks like it uses the actual fender for support rather than the fender being bolted to a solid bracket like the original one on my 360.

Im pretty sure I have EMGO tapered mufflers on my bike. I must say that they are just an average muffler. They sound OK but getting them to seal on the headers is a pain and the mounting brackets don't really line up with anything. You may need to retune the carbs after the exhaust change.

If your stock exhaust is in good shape leave it. It will run far better than any emgo setup. I you want a "look" or "sound" get some old head pipes off an earlier 77-79 xs400 or 76-77 xs360 bikes that are made for slip on mufflers. Save your stock ones for when you get tired of messing with tuning the emgo's.

Changed the handlebars and grips. Also bought new headlight bracket and lowered the headlights. Dropped the front forks an inch as well.
The big problem now is i have this oil leak. It looks like its coming from the crankcase.

Hey Killjoy33, would be nice to see how you got the shorty front fender sorted out. I'm planning on setting up one on my '88 maxim. Any suggestions or advice on where to find one? Thanks in advance
