The Orange Thing

Looks good. Just remember it take time and money to get them how you want. I'm ok with time, it's the money I have issue with:laugh:

I've finally got my XS250 running and am on to the snagging list before I get the bike MOT'd in the spring. Hopefully to rip around on during the warmer months. This is how she's looking at the moment. I recently fitted a head gasket after finding the compression was incredibly low on one side. Imagine my surprise to find it didn't have a head gasket fitted at all. Instead they'd used some clear silicone. Unfortunately it didn't work. Anyhow, here's how the bike looks at the mo.

Hi, wow that’s a long time in the build. But looks good. Just FYI even during lockdown MOT places are still open! And I don’t know if you’ve had a test ride, but those shock are rock hard! I’d really recommend something else if you can, without the double spring setup. interest in if you’ve had it running? how did you get on with the carbs. Mine had been off the road for 20 yrs and the only engine problems were carbs, stuck clutch plates And oil pressure switch. I didn’t strip for the clutch plates, just got engine going, paddled along to get it rolling, then crashed into gear and revved and braked till it loosed off.
Any way good luck and keep up posted. ps where in uk are u?

Yes, it's been a slow old process. Between starting the project and now I've had 2 kids, moved house and worked away from home a lot. I've also stripped, sprayed and renovated an MZ Skorpion for everyday use so it's not like I've been lazy. this project has always been a play thing.

Main issues for me were trying to get the bike running properly before I bought s compression tester. I had to whip the head off and found the head gasket had been removed. It's running quite well now with a new head gasket but needs some tweaking of the carb jets as it's a bit sluggish in the mid range. I'm in the West Midlands in the UK.

Here a picture of the head and barrels when I parted them. Imagine my surprise when I realised what was missing.
