Just a huge thank you to all that weighed in on bringing the 1980 XS special back to life. It’s even better than I had remembered. All the advice on the carb and master cylinder rebuild and other issues has been invaluable! THANK YOU!

One more question. After reviewing quite a few threads on headlight replacement, what’s the latest thinking? I’ve seen everything from led replacement to the original Japanese manufacturer is no longer in business due to the nuclear zone issues and the OEM lights are no longer available. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

Bike looks great! I had a '79 XS 1100 Special. It was my first bike. All black like ours. I wish I still had that one. It was a beast.
